Announcing.... the comeback of Mbong Amata, the pretty actress that starred in the much talked about celluloid film, 'Amazing Grace'. Then known as Mbong Odungide, she took some time off from the industry to get married and have a baby before deciding to bounce back into the world of acting. In a Nollywooduncut Exclusive, Bola Aduwo caught her on location and had this very interesting chat with her.
BA: Hi Mbong! MA: Hi Bola... How are you doing? BA: Great as you can see. Before I ask you about what youve been up to and all that I just want you to know I loved your performance in 'Reloaded' (laughter) and I would like to know what the experience was like! MA: Acting Reloaded was a wonderful experience. It really was one of a kind. We had actors like Rita Dominic, Van Vicker, Ini Edo, Uche Jombo, Ramsey and so many A list actors on set... it was a huge mileage for me. I made formed life long friendships and relationships with some wonderful people on that set.
MA: (More laughter) Yes I was the mole planted by a wife in her husband's office who lured him to take off his clothes, then ran off with them! (laughter) BA: That was a hilarious moment I must confess! When people saw you when the film just got out (2008), what did they say? MA: They would go...'You! You! They couldnt get over what Mira (my character) did. BA: Could you do that in real lfe? MA: Yes, I could! (laughter) Good for randy men! BA: So since 'Reloaded' (2008) what has been going on? MA: So much... life took a good turn. I got married, had a baby. BA: Thats so good. Congrats! MA: Thanks but she is a big woman now! (the baby) (laughter) BA: So have you stopped acting? MA: Not at all... I have been doing some acting. I took part in a couple of movies; 'Black Gold' a story close to my heart. It is on the Niger Delta issues and has an international cast and crew of Sarah Wayne-Callies of 'Prison Break', Billy Zane of Titanic and Akeem Kae Kazeem of '24'. It was directed by Jeta Amata. BA: Your husband? MA: Uh-huh... BA: Hmm... thats an impressive line up! When is it out? MA: Possibly in the coming year. BA: Which other ones have you done? M.A: 'Mary Slessor', 'Queen Amina' ... these where historical dramas that ran for three months on cable TV. BA: So what are you working on now?
MA: I have been involved in a couple of movies; one is titled 'Frozen' and the other 'Kidnapped' that was an action drama. BA: When do we expect to see those? MA: Also in the coming year, hopefully. BA: So what should we expect from Mbong? MA: Great things! You just wait! Well, we will... with bated breath! Add this page to your favorite Social Bookmarking websites
