A little while ago lovely twins, Treasure and Tracy Daniels aka The Gholden Girls hit the scene with their brand new song ‘Bad belle’.  It has been making waves and people have been asking, ‘who exactly are the Golden Girlz?’ Nollywooduncut.com had a little chit-chat with them and this is how it went.

NWU: Hi GHolden Girlz!

GG: Hello, Bola.

NWU: Okay, who is who here?

GG: (laugh) We are Tracy and Treasure Daniels better known as the GHolden Girlz.

NWU: You are identical twins, aren’t you?

GG: Yes.

NWU: From where?

GG: From Ebonyi State.

NWU: You have just released a single, ‘Bad Belle’. Have you always been singers?

GG: No we were into acting before.  Then we were based in Enugu and we acted in several movies.  We have relocated to Lagos now, precisely Lekki Phase I.

NWU: Which films?

GG: Divine Twins, Love & Cash, Divided Secrets, Appian Way and many others.

NWU: If you were acting why did you decided to go into music?

GG: God has blessed us with many talents; acting, music and dancing is part of it. Acting and singing are like Siamese twins; two sides of a coin. A lot of actresses sing… Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Madonna etc We always wanted to sing professionally so when the opportunity presented itself we grabbed it.

NWU: So are you abandoning acting?

GG: Not at all. We will still go back into acting but for now we want to face our music career.

NWU: Lets talk about your identical looks… one can’t help noticing! (laughter) So do you play tricks on people by switching identities and all that?

GG: (Laugh)No we don’t do that!  We are too honest to do that….

NWU: Lets talk about the video you have just shot for the your song. I can see some really great pictures. What was the experience like?

GG: Interesting…. Hard work! We were very impressed because we didn’t know certain things could be achieved here in Nigeria.  I believe those who watch it will be impressed when it comes out because we did not compromise on quality, but it was fun shooting it all the same.

NWU: Tell me more about the video.  I can see all sorts of crazy cars and props in the production shots.

GG:   Well, we tried to achieve something very classy and glamorous.  You will not be disappointed.

NWU: So when will the song hit the market officially?

GG: Its actually two promo tracks. OMALICHA and JEALOUSY. They will be released very, very soon. Listen out for it on radio. 

NWU: Will do that. What about the full album?

GG: Before the end of the year, hopefully.

NWU: So what kind of music can one find in on the album?

GG:  Various types; Afro hip hop, dancehall…. Generally lively, happy music.

NWU:    The title of the single ‘Bad Belle’… don’t you think it sounds controversial?

GG: No Not really. It’s just about telling people not to be jealous of others that’s all.

NWU: Why the choice of song?

GG: It was just in the spirit of the arts and we sang it in Pidgin because we wanted to identify with Nigerians.

NWU: So who is your favourite Nigerian artiste?

GG: For music it is has be PSquare.

NWU: For real?

GG: Yes.

NWU: Why, because they are twins like you?

GG: that is part of it but mostly because they produce good music and know how to dance very well. We will soon do a collabo with them.

NWU: Really! Will be sure to look out for it when ever it hits the scene. 

GG; (laugh)

NWU: well, Treasure and Tracy, GHolden Girlz… it has been great talking to with you.  I wish you the best in your future endeavours.

GG:  Thank you very much.
