Dele Onabowu, Rachael Nsofor, Ibukun Jegede

The much raved about Miss Black Africa UK beauty pageant, kicked off in full swing in London on the 2nd of April 2011. A host of belles battled it out to make the cut for the next stage. The founder (Dele Onabowu), explained that they were looking for a girl beautiful both inside and out. "

The ideal Miss Black Africa would be one that is beautiful, intelligent, graceful and modest. "Wearing the crown is a great responsibility so we shall be looking out for a girl with the complete package."

Judging the girls on the day were Dele Onabowu, Rachael Nsofor( CEO Fabulous hair europe) and Nigerian Supermodel(Ibukun Jegede). The girls faced a barrage of carefull crafted questions which gave a clearer insight into their aspirations. The second audition in May promises to be as interesting as the organisers up the ante.

One lucky contestant who didn't make the cut was shocked when informed that she had been selected for a modelling photoshoot by Ibukun,  for Top international Designer, Adebayo Jones responsible for dressing a host of international celebrities.

To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

1.       Be between 17 years and at most 35 years of age by August 2011.

2.      Be of Sub-Saharan, Black African origin. i.e must be from West, East, Central or Southern Africa.

3.      Speak at least one of the following languages: English, French, Portuguese

4.      Hold a passport with a valid visa covering the time of the event.

5.      Reside in the UK during the period of the event.

6.      Fulfil registration formalities before the registration deadline.
