Aren't you excited about the weekend? I sure am! Why? Cause its like the year is ending and there'e s a mad rush to release some absolutely awesome films as well as walk the red carpet for Award Shows! Well, the more the merrier! So what do we have in the kitty?

We have some Good News for Nollywood and African Movie lovers in The UK!  It is Official that the London Premiere of the Multi Award winning film ANCHOR BABY, starring Omoni Oboli and Sam sarpong will be held on the Tuesday, the 30th of August 2011 at the Odeon Cinema in Greenwich.

Over 10,000 people attended  the Nottingham Carribean Carnival over the weekend.  The weather turned out great and was just perfect for a family day out.  The Nottingham Caribbean Carnival 2010 is the largest and longest running cultural celebration in the city  

The Carnival is open to people of all ages and is a platform for anyone who wishes to promote the essence of all that is positive about Caribbean Carnival and in particular local young people from the many communities, which make up Nottingham. 

Nollywood Uncut  paparazzi's caught a few familiar faces one of which was Nigerian Supermodel, Ibukun Jegede who recently graduated from Nottingham University. Ibukun, who is one of the top black male models in europe is also a model scout, entrepreneur and politician. Ibukun hinted that he is working on a number of exciting projects and will make them known to us in due course.

Following the success of the MIRROR BOY, the UK is getting ready for the UK Cinema release of ANCHOR BABY, a tale of  illegal immigrant couple Joyce (Omoni Oboli) and Paul Unanga (Sam Sarpong) that were ordered by the U.S. immigration to leave the country.

They decide to go into hiding until the 5 month old Joyce delivers her baby and acquires U.S Citizenship. Paul eventually gets caught and is deported leaving Joyce all on her own in a foreign land as an illegal immigrant.

The quest to find Miss Black Africa UK continues as the organisation has announced the date for its first open audition as Saturday, the 4^th of June 2011. The Organisers have said that their mission is to find the Queen of Black Africa. The term Black Africa, is used to desribe sub-saharan Africa and is made up of East, West, Southern and Central Africa.  Applications are welcome from anyone between the ages of 17 and 35 that hails from  any of these areas and is based in the UK.

The much raved about Miss Black Africa UK beauty pageant, kicked off in full swing in London on the 2nd of April 2011. A host of belles battled it out to make the cut for the next stage. The founder (Dele Onabowu), explained that they were looking for a girl beautiful both inside and out. "

During the week, I met up with a very inspirational woman. She is perhaps, the most assiduous UK based African talk show host gracing our screens today. She is beautiful, elegant ,stylish and a great role model to women worldwide. She is none other than Ghanaian born presenter, model and actress, Dzifa Abequaye Gray. Dzifa’s talk show , The Titi Gray Show - focuses on youth development, women issues, relationships and entertainment.

It was pandemonium yesterday at the London Premiere of the Nollywood  film  The Mirror Boy as fans and movie aficionados clambered to enter the sold out venue. The Empire stands in the heart of London’s West end and has hosted some of the greatest performers in the entertainment world.

The search has begun for the first Miss Black Africa UK.  The organisers have said that the competition is open to females from Sub Saharan Africa which is made up of East,West,Southern and Central Africa.  When asked what kind of lady would be the perfect Miss Black Africa, the spokesman Dele Onabowu replied "We are looking for a lady that will be committed to using her position and influence to better the lives of others, promote awareness to the plight of the less privileged, be prepared to contribute to the development of her community and most of all be a great ambassador and role model to young Africans in the UK".
