Its going to be a blast in this last quarter of the year, I tell you. Im sooo looking forward to the block busters coming out! One of the most anticipated is the romantic comedy 'Two Brides & a Baby!' Today, October 18th, a select group of members of the press and bloggers were invited to attend a private screening of the movie at The Genesis Deluxe cinemas, Lekki by the producer of the film the very efferversent Blessing Effiom-Egbe. Bola Aduwo of Nollywooduncut was there as well as the director, Teco Benson, and some of the major cast in the movie, Screen goddess Stella Damasus, O.C Ukeje, Okey Uzoeshi, Keira Hewatch..
(l-r: Stella Damasus, O.C.Ukeje, Okey Uzoeshi, Keira Hewatch, Blessing Effiom-Egbe) The event kicked off at about 9am and the group was ushered into the darkened halls where the opening credits began to roll. As the movie reeled by we became sucked up into the world of Keche (Keira Hewatch) and Bankole (O.C. Ukeje) as they plan their beautiful, fairytale wedding ceremony as a prelude to their blissful future together. As friends and family are gathered for the wedding rehearsal, spirits are high, and hearts are full of love in anticipation of a beautiful wedding for Kole & Keche. Anticipation turns to dread and true love is challenged when the grooms ex-girlfriend (Stella Damasus) intrudes and reveals long-kept secrets at the center of which is a baby supposedly fathered by the groom. Drama ensues and spills over onto a married couple facing their own struggles, and an engaged couple approaching a crossroad in their own relationship. As the actors did their thing, I could not help but have my favourites (but I'm not telling!) a beautifully told film over all. What tripped me was the attention to detail from the clothes to the decor on the wall, the photos of cast in the family house. Many actors gave stellar performances and I must say, from this production many stars have been born. In a chat with the producer of the film, Blessing, she explained that the movie had been pre-planned for about two years before it was actually shot. She wrote the script, assistant-directed the film, handled wardrobe and a host of other things in the movie but the movie is no walk-over. A big plus in the movie is the inclusion in the cast of the very talented Stella Damasus. Stella was a delight to behold as the bitchy, jilted lover and boy! does she deliver? She shows that her years off-screen have in no way diminished her talent as with experience and nuanced gestures she lets the audience know why she is still a force to be reckoned with. Mention must also be made of upcomers, Okey Uzoeshi, Kiera Hewatch, Chelsea Eze and a big round of applause must go to Kalu Ikeagwu for his very humourous depiction of a Yoruba man! He even gets to speak a little of the language... I must say I didnt see that coming!
