It was a time to give thanks, a time to laugh, to eat, drink and make merry at the 1st Prize Prize Giving/Graduation ceremony for students of the Royal Arts Academy... the center that births future superstars!
In an informal atmosphere, the staff and students mingled amidst music, cocktails and small chops to receive their certificates and take pictures. 'This is such a momentous occasion for me... for all of us, the Royal Arts Family' enthused Emem Isong, Proprietress of the School. 'What started as a dream, an acorn has grown to be what it is today. I can not express how happy I am'. In a similar vein, the Dean of Studies, Uduak Oguamanam said, 'The students should know that this is just the beginning of a great journey. We have equipped them the best we can to go out and be worthy ambassadors of the school. We believe they will excel in whatever they do, especially in the field of entertainment'. Prizes were also given to deserving students including two special ones namely; The Emem Isong Prize for Best Student (Screenwriting) and the Monalisa Chinda Prize for Best Student (Acting). One of the recipients, Ijeoma Agu received her prize amidst tears. She was praised for being the very first person that signed up as a Student of RAA when the school was just starting...still being renovated! She had also proven herself from the first day to be very dilligent in her studies. Dignitaries that came to felicitate with the Royal Arts Family include Monalisa Chinda, Nse Ikpe Etim, Zik Zulu Okafor, Omoni Oboli, musician Slam! to name a few. A new session of the school starts in February 2011. A full and comprehensive list of winning students will soon be published as well as photos of the event but in the meantime enjoy these first pics;
