London was not left out as the whole world celebrated World Aids Day yesterday, the 2nd of December 2011. The event took place at the Boothroyd Hall in Essex. It was part of a worldwide synchronized Music and Fashion Event, organized by POSITIVE RUNWAY: Global Catwalk to Stop the Spread and AfricanActs Media.
Positive Runway, founded by Justina Mutale, is a voluntary global HIV/AIDS response campaign that tours the world working with beauty queens, models, fashion designers, music artists and celebrities from film, music, television, sport and other arts as influential advocates in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS. and to sensitise the youth and the world at large against other scourges affecting today’s young generation such as child trafficking, sexual responsibility, drugs abuse, gun and knife violence, as well as negative peer pressure among many other vices. In attendance, were models from the United States and the UK. The Runway was open by Beauty Queens from the UK's top pageants walking down the aisle carring lit candles with Red Ribbons painted on their faces. Miss Black Africa International 2011(Ruvimbo Chinzou), Miss Nubian UK 2011( Fatoumatta Touray), Miss Cameroon UK 2011( Lizette Forkwa) and other beauty queens , shed their Sashes and sported Black Positive Runway Sashes for the day.
