Ever met a Fashion designer that is also an accomplished singer songwriter? We would like to introduce the fabulous songstress Beatrice Kateme-Byakika also the founder of Iconicity Fashion house which she runs together with her design team made up of – Atess Gakona and Tanda.

Beatrice is an East African singer songwriter based in South West London. She has two albums to date, titled In My Blood and Coming Home. Inspired by her love for African music and a varied upbringing in both Kenya and Uganda, she spins tales of life and love in a variety of East African languages like Swahili, Lusoga, Samia and English. Her Coming Home album is a fusion of East African rhythms and contemporary sounds.

The songs have been featured by Charlie Gillett on the BBC and the acoustic rendition for that album has recently been performed at various London venues including the Kenya Awards, Miss Uganda Launch, ST Ethelsburga World Music Nights and the National Theatre in London. The album has been nominated for the BEFFTA Awards 2009. 2010 has built on the 2009 progress with acoustic performances at the Amazing Africa festival in Trafalgar square in October plus the Mayor of London City Hall Africa at 50 event.

A side interest has always been fashion but she never had the time to fulfil the dream till Feb 2011 when she together with her friend Atess who is a trained designer and seamstress decided to work together on producing East African inspired creations for her live gigs. Others that shared a love for the style asked for the stores to buy similar outfits and these requests turned our small hobby into a desire to set up a business that catered to the needs of those that shared our passion in July 2011.

The aim of the Entrepreneur Fountain is to educate individuals on how to use their individual skills and talents as tools to becoming entrepreneurs with the main of promoting development within minority communities especially during the recession. The aim is to enable individuals to sustain themselves, create employment opportunities and improve the social and economic being of their communities.
